About Us
Trinity Lutheran Church of Manhattan is a welcoming, vibrant and diverse congregation of the ELCA. We are young and old, from many different backgrounds and speak a variety of native tongues. We have worship services in English and Spanish every week and occasionally in German. We represent our ever-changing community on the Upper West Side. We rejoice in the wide, unexpectedness of God’s love for us and for others. We are a Reconciling in Christ congregation, and support the full participation of our LGBTQ members in the life of the church locally and world-wide. Our mission statement says that we are a community “called to share broken bread and the Gospel with our neighbors.”
Here is what some of our members say they value at Trinity:
I really feel God and the Holy Spirit in this church!
Genuinely accommodating of different perspectives and viewpoints.
Preaching that forces me to open my eyes and think bigger about whom I can love
I like the presence and involvement of young adults.
Last week, my kids talked about church all day!
Trinity helped me get back to my spiritual connections.
The pastor is an uncommon interpreter of God’s Word
Trinity is a loving mix!
Being here balances what I am learning in the seminary.
A focal point in this city.
Inspiring and helping new pastors-to-be.
The choir is precious to me.
Traditional hymns… and then gospel music...I love and cherish both.
